This porcelain temple jar features the Rose Medallion pattern made famous in the 19th century. Characteristic of this pattern are the panels depicting Chinese court scenes. Surrounding these are native elements of Canton--insects, fish, birds, vegetables, butterflies, flowers, plants--all drawn in great detail. The lid of this jar is topped by a handsome gilded finial.
